Common Terms
- Solar-Powered Backbone Repeater
- A fixed, always-on radio and antenna that relays messages across the network.
- Companion Device
- A personal or portable device used to send and receive messages through the backbone.
- Message Hopping
- The process of messages moving step by step between backbone repeaters.
- Mesh Network
- A network made up of many connected nodes instead of one central tower.
- Off-Grid / Always-On
- A system designed to operate without internet or cellular service, including during outages.
